Revisions

It seems that springtime has (finally) arrived! I was beginning to think it would never come! But now that the trees are all a-bloom with their flowers and the nighttime air is warm and lovely, it's pretty safe to say that spring is here.

And with spring come some equally anticipated revisions to Hogan's Photography!

I've been pretty busy these past weeks--with photo shoots as well as other exciting things. Spring has always been known as the season of new beginnings, and so it should be fitting that most of my sessions have been of engagements or weddings! Beautiful weather calls for beautiful photos! Below is one of my absolute favorites from my latest engagement shoot. You might remember Ashley & Brandon from sometime last year, when I photographed them back before they were officially engaged. They are such a great couple; I always enjoy our time together!

2014 has already proven to be a wonderful year full of new things for me. I've branched out with my talents by publishing a book as well as becoming part of a videography/photography business, and I've made some new, amazing friends that God seemed to put into my life at exactly the right moment. This is a year of transition, I think. And in celebration (or possibly because I just grew bored of the old design), I've begun revamping my photography website! Might as well start everything fresh, right? (Haven't seen my website yet? Check it out here.)

Stay tuned for lots more photos and changes to come! I'm sure there will be lots. But until then, go out and enjoy this gorgeous weather while it lasts! :)

Lovely Tiffany {Senior Shoot}

My last senior shoot was with Tiffany and while the wind that day was about 50mph, the photos turned out so lovely.

This first one is by far my favorite out of all that I took.

Absolutely loved her adorable outfit!

Beautiful Chandler {Senior Shoot}

I had a blast shooting Miss Chandler here a couple weeks back! She's beautiful both outside and in. :)

Totally loving this fall weather! I just wish it would hurry up and get nice and chilly; my sweaters are calling my name. ;)

Downtown in October {Senior Shoot}

I've found a new location for senior shoots that I absolutely love!

If you know me, you should know of my fascination with anything old or vintage. Well, I was scouting around town and I found this wonderful old building. I've done two shoots there so far.

The location was first tried out with Jared.

And then, of course, we had to move on to the railroad. This was underneath the tracks, a perfect place for pictures. Another new spot discovered as well!

I'll have more senior pictures up tomorrow!

A Little Imagination

It's a wonderful practice, you know.

Miss Tara!

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of taking my good friend Tara's senior photos! We had a blast, and she looks amazing in every photo.

Thanks for asking me to photograph ya, Tara! You're absolutely gorgeous. Inside and out! :)

A few of my favorites from the day. Then again, pretty much all of the 200 some-odd photos are my favorites!

Those Who Wander...

"Not all those who wander are lost." --JRR Tolkien

This quote really speaks to me for some reason. Perhaps it's because I've always been one of those who people that walks a slightly different path.

I look for the unique things in life and make them part of my own. Anything that is intriguing or mysterious--that's what I like. From the way I dress, to the way I think/speak--even how I act--I sometimes feel a little out of the norm. Some people think I'm weird, I know. But I accept that. I am who I am.

I'm a reader. A writer. An artist.

That probably accounts for those faraway looks I often get. Why I get quiet and thoughtful at times.

I'm a Christian. A God lover.

Because of this, I think before I speak and I care about what others think. I don't get angered easily, and I love everyone I meet. God makes everyone different. He just so happened to make me the quiet, thought-filled girl that often gets lost in her daydreams.

I'm eccentric. Unique.

I'm Hogan.

Spring! It's here!

Hopefully.

The weather has been absolutely wonderful this past week. Today was so lovely that I kept hoping I would have to park a few orders at work so that I might get a chance to walk outside for a moment. ;)

With this great weather comes all sorts of great opportunities for me as a photographer. I'm really itching to have a new shoot. I'm also itching because I have a bad sunburn, but that is neither here nor there.

Well, to have a shoot, I'd need a subject. And as of right now I am lacking in that department.

To compensate, have some random pictures of my nephews:

Look! Look into their sweet faces...and ignore the fact that I forgot to insert my logo. ;)

Editing is going nicely. I've finally fallen into a nice rhythm, so I no longer want to throw my work across the room. No,  I'm actually having fun! *gasp* And I'm also seriously thinking about putting up an excerpt...What do you think? Should I?

Amy and Daniel's Wedding

I had the wonderful privelege of shooting a wedding here a couple of week's back, and now I've finally gotten the chance to show some of my favorites!

The beautiful flower girls.

The groom and his father. I really liked this one.

Walking down the aisle...Can't miss her lovely smile!

They were such a wonderful couple, and I had a great time! Lots of blessings and thanks to Amy and Daniel. :)

Photo Shoot in the Backyard

That's right! I had a photo shoot last week with my mom in our very own backyard. Personally, I wasn't sure the pictures would be very captivating since it was a usual windy day and all I had to work with was a rusty red barn (thingy) as a backdrop. I snapped a hand-full of photos and we headed back inside after just 15 minutes or so.

Surprisingly, I was more than happy with how the pictures turned out, especially after I got them edited and tweaked. It also helps that my mother is wonderfully photogenic.

About two weeks ago, I bought a new editing software based on the fact that I am scheduled to shoot my first wedding the end of this month--yay! I fell in love with the new software within the first few minutes of using it, and thankfully, it's very easy to use. With just a few simple adjustments it can make any photo brighter and more appealing to the eye. I think I'm in photoshop heaven.

Aren't I lucky to have such a gorgeous model?

Oh, notice the logo? I am sort of proud of myself for figuring that one out (even though it was really easy to do...shhh). Now it almost feels like a kind of business, especially since the wedding shoot is coming up soon. I really am thankful for all of my friends and family that are helping make this possible. It seems like I am getting closer and closer to fulfilling my dream.

And on that note, I think I'll leave you with one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies:

Shooting with a couple of Cowboys

The beginning of this week, I managed to have the two photo shoots I've been planning, and the pictures really turned out great. The guys were great at listening and they were patient with my craziness--they're also very photogenic, so that helped.

So, without further ado, allow me to introduce the models!

Logan

  &
Jared

Two days of shooting = 270 photos

The first day was with Jared, who's quiet and nice, and he smiled pretty much the whole time.

And the second day was with Logan, the troublemak--I mean...he's nice, too.

This really was a great opportunity for me to see just how a photo shoot would go, and I'm so glad I have friends that will put up with me taking picture after picture of them and bossing them around.

8 hours of editing = some pretty great photos (if I may say so myself ;)

These are just a tiny showing of the pictures I snapped. Like I said, I shot hundreds and the boys are natural hams, so it all worked out. Thanks, guys! You were great subjects!

Fall is...er, Falling!

Finally, the weather is starting to cool down and the trees are starting to change into their fiery autumn clothes. Fall is my favorite time of the year. And not just because of my birthday.

I love how the air is just cool enough for a light jacket. How the leaves can be so many colors at once on the tress. How the breeze seems to have a certain autumn scent that brings a sort of melancholy feel to everything. To me, fall is the perfect type of weather. It's sad that it lasts for such a short time.

Also, fall is the perfect time for...PHOTO SHOOTS! The scenery is just spectacular if you're wanting to do an on-location shoot, and that's exactly what I'm wanting. I've finally found this neat little farm house not too far from where I live that might be a great place for the shoot I have in mind. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be introducing my "models" within a week or two!

Lady in Red

I've been quite busy this summer, what with work and writing. About a month ago, I actually got my wisdom teeth out, so that gave me a little reprieve from work--

It also made me think everything was hilarious and I was incapable of intelligible speech for about three days, but let's not dwell on that, yeah?

After regaining my will to do anything besides passing out and wondering why I couldn't feel my face, I went back to my life, which consists of work, reading, writing, and...work. And photography, of course! I finally got some time to walk around outside and snap some more photos, harassing the local wildlife and such.

I love that posterized effect.

Now that the weather's gotten nicer (today was actually COLD!), I think I'll be having that photo shoot pretty soon. I received my reflector in the mail the other day, so I'm all set. Now I just need to set the day and time.

But before I have that much-anticipated photo shoot, I'll probably--maybe--post some photos of me and my friends. I'll be going to a theme park--wait. Is that what it's called? A theme park? Or is it...an amusement park? Yeah, I think that's it. So I'll be going to an amusement park next weekend, and I hope to get some pictures of my family and closest friends having fun. So I might just post some of the photos on here.

And I suppose that's all for now, my followers.

Oooh, my followers. Sounds rather...evil, in a way, doesn't it? Muahahaha.

  Uh, yeah.

More Pics to Come...Hopefully, Soon!

Yeah. I was looking through some of the pictures I've put up on this blog, and I realized I've not updated them in a while. And I have lots of new photos I'd like to show you!

Seeing that I have a terribly slow computer, though, I'll have to wait until I have some extra time on my hands until I can get those new pictures put up on here. Be patient, my non-existent readers! I shall get them up soon! I hope. If I don't, I give you permission to yell at me. In Italian. Because Italian is awesome. ^_^
